Work Package 3 (WP3): Reinforcing the human potential

Employment of junior researchers is a very important task in this project because it brings a job opportunity for PhD or MSc students in the two WBC participants in this project (Macedonia and Serbia). The decision of the junior researchers to be employed within this project will be made by the senior researchers from each team based on their previous qualification (education, skills, experience) and the interview. Their task in the project will be training for applying the new instrumentation for analysis of phenolic compounds in various food samples.

Training
of the young researchers in the laboratories of the EU partners experienced in applying these techniques in food analysis is another aspect of the reinforcement of the human potential by improvement of its quality. Training of the young researchers in the laboratories of the partners will start before installation of the equipment at the Chromatography Laboratory (FSM-MK) and Food Control Laboratory (FSM-S) and it will be carried out starting from the 6th month. Young researchers will spend 1-3 months each in the laboratories of the EU partners and they will be trained for application of modern liquid chromatographic techniques in analysis of phenolic compounds in foods. During this time they will be involved in the current research performed in these laboratories related to the specified tasks of the training.

Training of the research staff at the Chromatography Laboratory (FSM-MK) and Food Control Laboratory (FSM-S) by experts from EU partners
is planned to take place in the second year, after the installation of the new equipment. Experts in the field of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry from the distinguished European institutions shall come to the Chromatography Laboratory (FSM-MK) and Food Control Laboratory (FSM-S) for training and sharing their experience with their colleagues from the WBC. These stays will also be employed for discussing future possibilities for joint research.
Training is also planned for two researchers from the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, which should be realized in the reinforced WBC laboratories (one in each). This activity will contribute to enhancing the regional collaboration already established in the frames of the bilateral scientific exchange between Macedonia and Bulgaria and joint incorporation in the wider ERA.
